Dr. Blanche Alter receives prestigious Wallace H. Coulter Award for Lifetime Achievement in Hematology

Dr. Blanche Alter, MD, MPH received the prestigious Wallace H. Coulter Award for Lifetime Achievement in Hematology at the 65th American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting in December 2023!

Dr. Alter’s work has led to critical contributions in the field of Telomere Biology Disorders, revolutionizing our understanding of these disorders and paving the way for advancements.

She initiated the Inherited Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes Study at the National Cancer Institute, which has been instrumental in identifying genetic causes, understanding medical complications, and quantifying cancer risk of Telomere Biology Disorders.

Over her career, Dr. Alter published over 350 peer-reviewed articles, books, and book chapters. Her mentorship and work have inspired the next generation of women in medicine, and she is a highly regarded and esteemed member of the medical community.
