Hamish was diagnosed with Dyskeratosis Congenita (more specifically Hoyeraal-Hreidarsson Syndrome) at 2 years old following almost 18 months of testing to determine the reason behind his critically low blood counts.

Just 4 months after diagnosis, he was admitted in to Queensland Children’s Hospital to undergo a Bone Marrow Transplant.
He has yearly esophageal stricture dilatations, fluorescein angiograms to check his eyes which need laser every 12-18 months.

Despite all this, he is now a happy little boy who is almost 5 years old. Hamish is obsessed with super heroes and regularly says he wants to be a Doctor to help people when he grows up.
